On August 27, Linnovate Partners, KPMG China and the China Overseas Private Funds Association (COPFA) successfully co-hosted a seminar titled “Overseas Private Equity Fund Operations and Regulatory Compliance in the AI Era.” The event, held at the KPMG office in Shanghai, provided a platform for in-depth discussion on cross-border regulatory challenges, the expectations of international investors, and industry best practices.
The seminar began with an opening address from Mr. Howard Ching, Director of Asset Management at KPMG China and Co-Chair of COPFA. This was followed by a keynote speech from Mr. David Lau, Honorary Chairman of COPFA, who emphasized the critical role of corporate governance, risk management, and compliance for international institutional investors.
A panel discussion moderated by Ms. Nancy Jiao, Director of Alternative Fund Services at Linnovate Partners, featured insights from prominent experts: Mr. David Lau of COPFA; Mr. Wayne Luo, Senior Manager of Fund Services at CITIC Securities; Mr. Henry Wong, Tax Partner at KPMG; and Mr. Kane Hong, Partner at Jin TianCheng Law Firm. The discussion focused on evolving compliance and regulatory trends in key overseas jurisdictions under the influence of AI.
A key highlight was the joint publication by Linnovate Partners and CITIC Securities (Co-Chairs of the Chinese Overseas Private Funds Association’s Infrastructure, Innovation and Tech Committee) on the latest Common Reporting Standard (CRS) updates. This collaboration delivers critical insights into recent regulatory developments in Cayman, Hong Kong, and the BVI, along with actionable FATCA compliance guidance tailored for VC/PE fund managers.
