Our Managing Partner for UK and Europe, Redmond Lee, had the pleasure of attending Funds Congress 2020 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre at Westminster on Thursday 6 February. We heard from a galaxy of high powered speakers, from the CEOs of Jupiter Asset Management, Liontrust and Franklin Templeton. We also heard really interesting insights from Martin Gilbert about the merger of Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life to form Aberdeen Standard Investments. From our own alternative assets world we heard from Partners Group, Triago, Neve Capital and Duff and Phelps. The highlight was a most fascinating lecture from the Rt Hon John Bercow, formerly the Speaker of the House of Commons, and his policy of asserting backbencher rights in Parliament, rather than the House being a rubber stamp for the Government of the day.
Speaking about the event, Redmond said: “Funds Congress is one of the highest profile events for fund management in London, so it was a pleasure to speak with people from all backgrounds in finance and law. It was proved by the mood of the room that in an era of constant change and unpredictability, specialisation is key. This reinforces Linnovate Partners’ speciality of applying high technology to traditional outsourcing. Our message of providing the market a new way of accessing a unique, highly automated, efficient and industrial strength technology stack as the result of a service subscription is really flourishing..”
